A letter from the President of IYAA

Parents and Legal Guardians,

As we wrap up the regular season and enter the season-ending championship tournament, I want to take a moment to thank all of you for being part of our league this year. Thank you for signing your children up to play, for getting them to practices and games, and for cheering them on and supporting them in their athletic journey. I also want to thank you for supporting our volunteer coaches, many of whom are parents giving their time and energy to help make this league possible.

Overall, this season has gone very well, and we appreciate the positive environment that so many of you have helped create. However, over the last couple of weeks, we have had a few incidents in the stands that serve as an important reminder as we head into tournament play.

When you are in the stands, please remember to keep your comments positive and encouraging. Our focus should remain on the children playing on the court. We do not want attention drawn to the stands because of comments directed at other spectators, officials, players, or coaches.

We also want to remind everyone that many of our officials are young people who are still learning and growing in their role. Officiating is not easy, and these young officials deserve the same patience, respect, and grace that we hope all adults will show to every participant in our league.

Let’s finish this season the right way — with good sportsmanship, encouragement, and a positive atmosphere for all of the kids. Thank you again for your support and for helping us make this a great experience for every player.

Thank you,

Karl Stoebick

IYAA President
